Delete your RareJourney account and data

RareJourney is published by Happy Lucky Designs Pty Ltd. This page explains how to request deletion of your account and the personal data associated with it.

Option 1 — Delete from inside the app (recommended)

The fastest way to delete your account is from within the RareJourney app, where your identity is already verified.

  1. Open the RareJourney app and sign in.
  2. Tap your profile, then Settings.
  3. Choose AccountDelete account.
  4. Confirm the request. Your account is queued for deletion immediately and a confirmation is sent to our team for processing.

Option 2 — Email request (if you can't access the app)

If you've lost your device, can't sign in, or have already uninstalled the app, you can request deletion by email instead.

  1. Email privacy@therarejourney.com with the subject line "Delete my account".
  2. Send the email from the email address registered to your RareJourney account. We will not act on requests sent from any other address.
  3. We will reply to that same address with a one-time confirmation. Reply "Confirm delete" to authorise.
  4. We process the request within 30 days and email you when your data has been removed.

Why this verification step? The email-from-registered-address + one-time confirmation is the same proof-of-control we use for password resets. It stops anyone else from triggering deletion of your data.

What we delete

When your request is processed, the following is permanently removed from our production systems:

  • Your account (Supabase Auth user and credentials)
  • Your profile (name, date of birth, conditions, relationships)
  • Timeline events you have logged
  • Patient documents you have uploaded, including extracted text
  • Chat history with the in-app assistant
  • Any feedback or survey responses you submitted while signed in

What we retain (and why)

  • Audit log of the deletion request itself — kept for 12 months. This is evidence that we honoured your request and contains no personal content from your account.
  • Aggregated, anonymised analytics counters (e.g. total chat messages across all users) — retained indefinitely. These contain no identifiers and cannot be re-associated with you.
  • Records we are required to keep by law — for example financial or transaction records under Australian Tax Office rules (typically 7 years). This only applies if you ever had a billing relationship with us.

How long it takes

  • Within 24 hours — your account is disabled and your data is hidden from all RareJourney services.
  • Within 30 days — your data is permanently removed from our production database.
  • Within ~30 days — your data also rolls out of our daily database backups as the older backup snapshots expire on rotation.
